Gerry Gesell (pronounced "gazelle") was born and raised in Texas just south of San Antonio. He was born alongside his triplet brother and sister, Tommy and Wendy. Mother, Carin, had them in the saddle by the age of three.
Gerry observed horses and developed a respect of horses from the outside looking in. His mother and father were careful to never force the issue of horses on Gerry, Tommy, and Wendy.
